In July 3027, Theodore Barkley would lead a Lance of BattleMechs on a raid of the world of Rollis. He was a green commander and this raid was meant to be a way to blood him and his unit. However, elements of the Rollis Home Guard under the command of Subcommander Rodney Piet put up a stubborn defense that took the Federated Suns troops by surprise. After the initial loss of one his 'Mechs, Barkley finally listened to Sergeant Viola Radcliffe's advice and withdrew from the planet before his unit could be destroyed.[1][2]
