Tyrell Gibson was a Lyran Commonwealth soldier and politician. After serving as a tank commander alongside the 17th Skye Rangers, Gibson entered politics and was elected Chancellor of the People in the Estates General.

History[edit]

Early Life and Military Career[edit]

Gibson was born on the world of Black Earth to a farming family who lived far from any major city. At first, he showed little interest in politics and instead joined the LCAF. Assigned to the armor corps, Gibson was badly injured in a Kuritan ambush, leaving him with scars along his left side along with prosthetic replacements for his left arm and leg.

When a radical far-left party took power on the Black Earth, the Gibsons lost their family farm after the ruling leaders outlawed private land ownership. Though the family took up arms against the government in response, they were jailed. Tyrell returned home after mustering, joining the opposition party. He ultimately planned and led the violent overthrow of Black Earth's ruling party in 2998, turning down the offer of the planetary presidency to represent the world in the Estates General.

Political Career[edit]

Gibson quickly gained a reputation for open-mindedness and fairness. The Steering Committee took notice of the new delegate and began giving him progressively more important assignments within various committees. His stubbornness led to a determination to hear all sides of an issue, and a desire to resolve issues for the betterment of all involved. When the Chancellor of the Peoples stepped down in 3017, Gibson was the overwhelming favorite to assume the post. Of all the representatives in the Estate General, he was viewed as the best choice to represent the Estates General on the Commonwealth Council.

Political Views[edit]

Despite his reputation for always hearing out all sides of an issue, Gibson held several grudges. He considered the Duke of Black Earth an enemy for not intervening in the events that cost his family their farm. He held a grudge against the Lyran military for sending his tank into the trap that cost him his arm, leg, and crew, including his beloved. While his colleagues treated him with respect and admiration, he had few true friends and avoided most social gatherings. Despite this, Archon Katrina Steiner attempted to befriend the brusque ex-tanker, with mixed results.[1]
