Wandering the Republic at the time of the Blackout, he was on Ozawa when he answered Duchess Katana Tormark call for recruits, due to an identification with their Asian heritage. On 3 October 3136, Smith was on Kaona Island in Athenry's Wandessa Chain as the fighting for the planet continued, where he again clashed with Kisho.[6] He was not however able to resolve this disagreement, as the Fury's command center suffered a surprise attack by elements of Bannson's Raiders which claimed 25 casualties, including the death of Smith.[2]
