On 31 August 3135, Kessel was back on Terra for the announcement by Exarch Jonah Levin of the raising of The Wall and formation of Fortress Republic, which Kessel opposed as the "loss of Stone's dream" and defeatism.[5]
Lord Governor
By 3145, Kessel had been removed from the ranks of the Paladins by Devlin Stone, on the basis his skills were more political than military.[1] His replacement role, more suited to his political skills, was as Lord Governor of Prefecture X, in its guise of Fortress Republic.[6]
