History

Formation

Fourth Succession War

During the war the Sixteenth engaged the Wolf's Dragoons on Glenmora.

The Sixteenth fought well during the Third and Fourth Succession Wars, but was relegated to garrison duty in 3033 after offending the Warlord of Galedon. During the Ronin Wars, the unit's commander threatened to side with the rebellious Warlord of Dieron unless his unit was given a better assignment. This action hurt the unit's reputation and priority listing for new equipment.[1]

Clan Invasion

Operation Bulldog

Dominion War

The Sixteenth and the 2nd Genyosha recaptured Marduk from attacking Draconis March forces. They also went on to take Breed away from the Federated Suns.[2]

Jihad

Based on Senorbi during the Jihad the Sixteenth Galedon Regulars took heavy losses from Black Dragon Society sympathizers and yakuza forces. Between the terror attacks of the yakuza and the influence of the Black Dragons, the Sixteenth found more than half it's equipment and warriors destroyed. At the close of the Jihad they remained on Senorbi.[3]

The Sixteenth responded to the yakuza attacks by eliminating most of the yakuza on Senorbi. The Sixteenth spent the rest of the Jihad defending the Combine's border with the Outworlds Alliance as a counter to adventurism by Clan Snow Raven. The Ravens never jumped the border however. Later, the DCMS High Command ordered the Sixteenth to take Budingen from the Snow Ravens after the Clan took that world. The Sixteenth wasn't able to do so, but did inflict heavy losses on the Gamma Galaxy defenders.[4]

Officers

As of 3025, the commanding officer was Tai-sa Francisco Bevier led the Sixteenth during the Fourth Succession War, but damaged the unit's reputation during the ronin wars.[5]

As of 3050 to 3067 the commanding officer was Tai-sa William Tohiro.[6][7][1][8]

As of 3085 the commanding officer is Tai-sa Ailill Coenen.[9]

Tactics

The Sixteenth relies on reconnaissance from its detachment of VTOL craft. This aids them in the urban combat that is their specialty, as VTOLs perform admirably in such terrain, while aerospace fighters do not fight as efficiently in it.[1]
