Project Planets
Welcome to the Planets WikiProject. We are a group dedicated to improving BattleTechWiki's coverage of Planets. Feel free to join in by adding your name to the group, grabbing an article to complete or weighing in on the discussion.
- Goals
- Catalog every planetary system
- Provide owner (faction) occupancy through all known time periods
- Provide distance to nearby planets, including those within two jumps (60 LY)
- Provide details on component manufacturers (BattleMech, weapon, vehicle, etc) on the system, if any exist
- Scope
- Any planetary system recognized in FASA, FanPro or MW:DA products

- Preparations for the forthcoming Planet Overhaul effort have begun, to include:

- Project mainpage updating & cleanup, including refreshing the membership (Revanche)

- I re-generated all of the "nearby planets" images for the planets. Changes include:
- Changing the X values of nearby planets to be their correct values -- previously, the nearby planet's X values were reversed, so it was like looking into a mirror.
- Decreasing the font size and line-weight of nearby planets to make the image less crowded.
- Coloring planet names for factions in specific colors to show friendly/hostile neighbors.

Collaboration and review
As the planet articles will be almost completely redone and due to the sheer numbers of such an extensive program, extensive collaboration and management will be required, with reviews where necessary.
It is the intent of the overhaul effort to accomplish the revisions by categories of planets (as defined by faction control) through phases of accomplishment of each category. A discussion is currently underway to design the new article template, and once that has been accomplished, the phases will be defined. At this time, a possible example might be this:

- I working on a template centering on on the star system Template:InfoBoxStarSystem, separating the data relavant to the star system itself vs individual planets themselves. I have started with Terra as that has three individual planets. Is there other specific data for the system itself that I have not included?
