Daemien's Destroyers[1]
Previous Designation(s) 23rd Amaris Dragoons[2]
Affiliation Mercenary
Parent Command N/A

Formerly a Rim Worlds Republic regiment, the 23rd Amaris Dragoons became a mercenary unit going by the name of Daemien's Destroyers.

There is one reference to a mercenary unit named Daemian's Destroyers.[3] This article assumes that they are in fact the same unit.

History

The Dragoons

The Twenty-third Amaris Dragoons left their posting in the Rim Worlds Republic for Hegemony space following the Amaris Coup, assuming it would be their new homeland. They were branded as traitors and ordered imprisoned, which led to a brief firefight against the Nineteenth Patriot Regiment on Summer. This in turn saw the Twenty-third marked as enemies of the state. They left Summer with all the supplies they could carry and headed into the Draconis Combine[2] to work for House Kurita as mercenaries in 2768, henceforth known as "Daemien's Destroyers".[1][4]

The Destroyers

As of 2786, at the onset of the First Succession War, Daemien's Destroyers were listed as a full-strength regiment stationed on Kaesong; by the end of the war in 2821 they were down to 59% strength and stationed at Vorarlberg. They were classed as a "light" unit. Their loyalty was rated as "Fanatical".[4]

In what may be an inaccuracy or outright error, they are also marked as a unit comprised of former SLDF soldiers.[4]

In 2802, the 2nd Kearny Highlanders fought a House Kurita-aligned mercenary unit identified as "Daemian's Destroyers" on Lincoln. It was noted that the Destroyers repeatedly asked to be allowed to surrender, but their request was denied by the Highlanders.[3] (Contradictory wording leaves it unclear which side as attacking or defending, or who held Lincoln at the time, but other references to Lincoln seem to establish that it was held by House Liao at the time, who repulsed several attacks on Lincoln by House Kurita in 2802 and 2803.)
