System Description
The El Dorado system is located close to the Remagen and Vecchio systems[3][4] and consists of a class G0V primary orbited by at least two worlds. During the thirty-first century recharge stations were in place at both the nadir and zenith jump points.[1][2]
System History
The El Dorado system was colonised during the First Exodus from Terra[5] and was one of the founding members of the Federated Suns.[6]
El Dorado II
Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard El Dorado II - more commonly known simply as El Dorado - is the second planet in the El Dorado system and has a single moon named Boulder.[1][2]
Planetary History
Early Years
El Dorado was first surveyed in 2236[1] and during the late twenty-third and early twenty-fourth centuries became an important enough trading partner to nearby New Avalon that Jerome Davion, son of Adam Davion, served as the New Avalon ambassador to El Dorado from 2297 to 2306. El Dorado was vital to the commercial empire being built by Adam Davion and Nathan DuVall and which laid much of the groundwork for the future Federated Suns.[5]
Succession Wars
During the First Succession War a raid by the Draconis Combine left El Dorado's JumpShip yards in ruin. Similar actions against merchant fleets stifled interstellar trade across the Inner Sphere, harming El Dorado's export-oriented economy. Businesses immediately began cropping up to supply these vital components which had been imported previously, giving El Dorado the ability to be nearly self-sufficient. However, the trauma of the Kuritan raid led El Dorado to minimize its involvement in industries targeted by the early Succession Wars, like JumpShip and BattleMech production, in order to make the world less of a target. That policy continued until the mid-31st century, when El Dorado began manufacturing the Warlord.[citation needed]
El Dorado was largely untouched and unaffected by the Second Succession War and became a key technological player for the Federated Suns throughout the Third Succession War by supplying key components of twenty-fifth century technology to factories throughout the realm.
El Dorado also has some of the Federated Suns' renowned universities known as the "Gilded Halls", which have allowed El Dorado to maintain its role as a front-runner in technology and manufacturing.[1]

Geography
El Dorado has six continents named San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Monterrey and Durango.[1][2] Roughly fifteen percent larger than Terra and with higher surface gravity, El Dorado has a lot of arable land thanks to the "Super Lakes", large freshwater lakes found on Los Angeles and San Diego. Due to life cycle of the planet, El Dorado’s core temperature is slightly hotter than that of Earth’s which causes increased tectonic action. Over the many centuries of colonization, the populace has steered clear of the worst volcano and quake zones. El Dorado has one moon, known as Boulder, which appears silver and sapphire due to a dense nitrogen-carbon dioxide atmosphere and a global ocean[1]
