Planetary History
During the Jihad, the support offered from the Lyran Alliance to the allied coalition assembled by Devlin Stone was far from universally popular. This was highlighted on the 13th of December 3077 when Heather Steiner-Fyhne, wife of Archon Adam Steiner, was attacked by a mob protesting against the support offered to the coalition. The resulting stampede caused when the guards opened fire to disperse the crowd saw nearly a hundred civilians wounded and twenty-nine killed.[3] The mob had been protesting the use of heavy metals such as lead, tungsten and depleted uranium in ammunition destined for the campaign against the Word of Blake. The mob numbered some 1,500 people, although not all of them broke through the police lines bordering the route, and Lady Steiner-Fyhne was trapped in her vehicle for several minutes. Initial reports from the media didn't mention the guards opening fire or the resulting casualties, but did report that 43 protesters had been arrested.[4]
