In BattleTech, the term Fireship (or Fire Ship) is not well defined and presumably informal. It broadly refers to spaceships that have been turned into bombs, to be sent against larger or more valuable enemy vessels to destroy them in a suicide run. These fireships would apparently typically be DropShips or Small Craft (as opposed to the vastly more expensive WarShips; JumpShips, being almost immobile, seem poorly suited and also too valuable to be used in such a way).

The Taurian Concordat was a noted user of Fireships during the Reunification War.

During the 2581 battle for Flintoft the Taurian navy took out sixteen SLDF WarShips, often through suicide attacks by swarms of fireships which were described as "short-range craft piloted by volunteers and crammed to the bulkheads with explosive ordnance";[1] reportedly, this included nuclear warheads.[2] One named ship lost to them was the SLS Lakshmi.[2]
