System Description
The Grumium system is located near the Dehgolan and Karbala systems.[2][3] The Grumium system consists of a class F1V primary orbited by at least two worlds. During the late thirty-first century, a recharge station was in place at the system nadir jump point.[1]
System History
The Grumium system was settled during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and was a member of the Tamar Pact prior to the formation of the Lyran Commonwealth in the twenty-fourth century.[4][5]

Grumium II, more commonly known simply as Grumium, is the second planet in the Grumium system and has a single moon.[1]
Planetary History
Down on their luck and unable to garner any legitimate contracts, Death's Legion went rogue and looted a House Kurita weapons facility. The treasure trove of stolen Lostech items was stored on Grumium and placed on the black market. Sebastian Spears of Interstellar Expeditions learned the location of their hidden base and sent Nik's Cavaliers, now under the command of Jake Mason, to eliminate the rogue mercenaries so that Spears' salvage teams could recover the merchandise for himself, using it to fund their effort to find and hunt down Black Inferno and their benefactor, Kenzo Yamata of ComStar.[50]
Fourth Succession War
Grumium was one of the worlds invaded by the Lyran Commonwealth during Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. Grumium was a target of the follow-up exploitation phase that followed the first wave of attacks; the exploitation phase was initiated following orders from Archon Katrina Steiner on 21 October 3028,[23] and Grumium was invaded by a task force consisting of the Third Donegal Guards, the Fourth Lyran Regulars and the Twenty-second Skye Rangers.[51] The conquest of Grumium was considered a significant emotional victory, as Grumium had been a Lyran world prior to being conquered by the Combine.[23]
Jihad
During the Jihad, Grumium was the site of one of the most damaging protests against the merging of the Rasalhague population and Clan Ghost Bear. On 7 March 3071, the local First Grumium Armored Militia had to remove their own countrymen from the grounds of the Frihet Training Academy, after a major protest against the détente between the Ghost Bears and the local population saw rebel cadets from the academy take over the academy grounds.[52]
Grumium Creations, the notable defense manufacturer on Grumium, was experiencing problems as the Jihad drew to a close. No longer able to export to ComStar, the facilities had already closed down their Crockett production lines, but were continuing to produce Cyclops and Viking BattleMechs as well as Kobold battle armor, but had been unable to attract or obtain any funding to upgrade its remaining production lines, and it was unclear if the company would be able to continue operating.[1]
Military Deployment
Geography
In the MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Campaign Mission "Blood and Treasure," Grumium is depicted as an iron oxide biome with poor visibility.[50]
Planetary Locations
- Frihet Training Facility: a military training center for MechWarriors, armored vehicle crews and conventional infantry forces[1]
- Gibbs: the location of the Grumium Creations facilities on McAdoo[1]
- Grumdale: the planetary capital city, located on Draco[1]
- Hel: an arid badlands area on crater[1]
