History

In January 3059 the Hessian Horsemen took a contract on the planet Durham from the Draconis Combine. They were employed to prevent the raids of a pirate band know as Corazon's Cossacks. They were also tasked with locating the pirate base of operations and destroying the raiders as well. Later the same month the pirates arrived via a pirate point located close to Durham's moon and made planet fall. The Horsemen repelled this attack on and managed to plant an undercover agent within the Cossack’s ranks. This spy allowed them to track the pirates back to their base. In March the Horsemen ambushed a group of Cossacks on Labbezanga and in April they had tracked the pirates to Isfahan and destroyed them in combat. [1]

During this contract the Horsemen made use of both their Intruders for action in space, using them to ferry platoons of marines in boarding actions that captured two pirate JumpShips.

Officers

They were commanded by Colonel Elsebeth van Tassel, a former Leftenant Colonel from the Federated Commonwealth and the Countess of Hereford on Hamilton.[1]

  • Captain Yuri Rostov was head of the Horseman's Security Company of infantry.
  • Captain Glen Howe commanded the Heavy Armor Company.
  • Captain Cade Warrant commanded the VTOL Company.
  • Captain Sylvia Dane commanded the fighter squadron.
  • Captain de Soto commanded Bravo Company of Marines on the Corvine.
  • Lieutenant Takeshi Omata commanded Striker Lance
  • Lieutenant Heinz Mueller commanded Anvil Lance (Heavy 'Mechs)

Composition

The Horsemen were a Combined armed mercenary unit of roughly battalion strength. Their 'Mech company was backed up by a number of infantry platoons, an armour company of 12 Schrek PPC Carriers, a squadron of Cavalry VTOLs and a squadron of Thunderbird aerospace fighters.[1]

The Hessian Horsemen owned a fleet of six DropShips transported by two Invader-class JumpShips. Three of the six DropShips were the Tisiphone, a Leopard class, and a pair of Intruders, the Raven and the Corvine There was also the Ramshackle of unknown class. The Tisiphone carried the Command Lance.[1]

A Union-class Dropship was captured from the pirates and added to the Horesmans roster. A Scout and a Merchant-class JumpShip were also captured during the course of the contract, but it is not known if the Horsemen also kept possession of them.
