Family Profile
Title(s) Industrialist family
Affiliation Lyran Commonwealth

The House O'Leary was a Lyran businessman one, mainly known by being the creators and only owners of the company Mountain Wolf BattleMechs.

History

During the Star League Era, the O'Learys had contracts with the Star League Defense Force, supplying them the BattleMechs Night Hawk and Sling.[1]

However, the First and Second Succession Wars changed that: their only two manufacturing plants, on Vendrell and Alpheratz IV were rendered unusable. The wars also made most of their technologies Lostech, so they weren't able to produce any of their signature 'Mechs, or any other, in fact, without access to any manufacturing plant.[2]

However, the O'Learys kept their enterprise alive... at least in name. They lost all their posessions, living from their reputation and name, barely keeping themselves feeded. Michael O'Leary, which was the CEO of Mountain Wolf at the end of the 31th century, tried desperately to resurrect Mountain Wolf, but in vain. About 3010, he died, being replaced by his son, Brandon O'Leary.[3]

However, Michael's death signaled the rebirth of the O'Leary's: by 3010, Brandon had already massed a great quantity of money and recovered the O'Leary's traditional home in Vendrell. And the same year, he managed to retake control of the Alpheratz factory and reopen it, to build the Merlin (BattleMech)'s 'Mech, designed by two of their employees. Brandon even managed to make his family a noble one and later, reopening their other factory on Vendrell.[4]

Family Heirlooms and Holdings

During the Star League Era, the O'Leary was a relatively rich house with several possessions: beside the Alpheratz and Vendrell factories, they had a palace called Snowgarden, on Vendrell, their traditional residance, and another, Stonehold Estate on Alpheratz, but with the Succession Wars they lost everything. Before the change of century, they barely had the Ceridwen DropShip. But Michael O'Leary managed to regain Snowgarden, and reopen both the Alpheratz factory, and the one on Vendrell.[6]
