History
Iota Galaxy was quickly rebuilt after the Refusal War by drafting trueborn warriors who had failed their initial Trial of Position. These new warriors were needed because many of Iota's troops were transferred to fill gaps in front-line Clusters. In 3059 the three Clusters of Iota were stationed along the Wolf's border with Clan Ghost Bear.[1]
The Galaxy only had three Clusters after the Refusal War, but by 3067 it had created two new Garrison Clusters. In 3062 the Sixth Wolf Cavalry was formed, followed by the Twenty-first Wolf Regulars a year later. Several units of Iota faced the Ghost Bears in the mid-3060s, winning experience at the cost of their duty stations.[2]
The Jihad
Iota Galaxy served on the Draconis Combine front of Operation SCOUR from the end of 3076 onwards, operating as part of a task force ultimately commanded by the DCMS Gunji-no-Kanrei Kiyomori Minamoto.[3]
The Wolf Empire
During the formation of the Wolf Empire Iota Galaxy didn't engage in combat with the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth or the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces. Instead it served as a security force for Clan Wolf assets. This left the Galaxy in good shape until front-line Galaxies needed to replace warriors. The large number of transfers out of Iota Galaxy left the unit dramatically understrength. To counteract this, the Galaxy deployed its Clusters in pairs. No replacement warriors had been transferred into the unit to make up the losses. In 3145 Iota garrisoned systems along the Wolf Empire's Lyran Commonwealth border.[4]
Officers
As of 3059 to 3067 the commanding officer was Galaxy Commander Shistu Sradac.[1][5]
In 3145 the commanding officer is Galaxy Commander Malcolm Vickers. His aide is Star Colonel Nicole.[6]
Tactics
Iota Galaxy made extensive use of Elementals during combat.
