The Dark Age

Laureles was raided by pirates in 3118; the pirates jammed communications in and around the city of Rork, leaving the local militia apparently unable to coordinate and effective defense. While the defenders had plans put together as a contingency against just such an event, they discovered that the eight Xiphos Assault Battle Armor suits that had recently been shipped to the militia had communications systems that could cut through the jamming. The militia swiftly deployed the suits in pairs, with each pair accompanying a different search party; the pirates were caught completely unawares, having placed faith in the efficacy of their jamming efforts, and were swiftly slaughtered by the militia.[30]

In 3147, Laureles was raided by the pirate band Lincoln's Rotting Corpse. Avoiding the defending 21st Wolf Garrison (Clan Wolf), the pirates were able to plunder several villages for loot and prisoners to be used as slaves. One Star Captain Seth piloting a Goliath C was able to down one of the raiders BattleMechs, a Griffin, and take it pilot prisoner. Using information obtained from the prisoner, Star Captain Seth would lead an expedition to the abandoned system of Thirty Weight to destroy the Lincoln's Rotting Corpse pirate band and return three months later with everyone who has been taken captive as well as salvaged BattleMechs and the pirate's JumpShip.[31]
