During the FedCom Civil War, the Loyalist faction consisted of people who were loyal to Katherine Steiner-Davion, hence the term.
A military unit that openly supported and fought for Archon "Katrina" was called a "Loyalist unit".
During the War, Loyalists were opposed by Allied units who openly supported Archon Katherine's brother and archenemy, First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion.
Katherine decreed that any and all "neutral" military organizations that existed inside the Alliance or Commonwealth (i.e., AFFC or LAAF units who chose not to support either Katherine or Victor), were to be destroyed since she considered such units to be a threat.
