Planetary History[edit]
After the Jihad erupted, Marielund was one of a number of Federated Suns Outback worlds to suffer predation from pirate bands operating from the Periphery. The Thumpers Assault Battalion, a mercenary BattleMech unit, was deployed in the region at the time and signed a contract with the Filtvelt Coalition after the formation of the splinter state; the Thumpers went on to both train the Filtvelt Military Academy training battalion and to assist the garrison forces on both Marielund and the nearby world of Wetumpka against the pirates.[31]
