History
The eldest son of Baron Ishmael Stroud, Ravid Stroud was a trained diplomat and former Free Worlds League soldier. While on a diplomatic mission to the Magistracy of Canopus, Ravid's JumpShip suffered a misjump which stranded the crew and passengers on Vakarel, along the League's rimward fringe, with no means of outside contact. Ravid quickly took command of the survivors, but the isolation and dwindling supplies caused them to turn on each other. Unknown to the survivors, it was a nonlethal toxin in the water that made them increasingly paranoid and violent, a state that they called the "Reckoning."[1]
It's possible they would have eventually killed each other, were it not for a ship passing through the system which detected signs of habitation and sent a DropShip to investigate. Ravid led the survivors in attacking and taking command of the ship full of 'Mechs and equipment, including Star League era LosTech weaponry, ultimately using it to launch a reign of terror as "Ravid's Reckoning." But no matter how far they roamed they returned to their homebase on Vakarel. Unbeknownst to Ravid and his band, the toxin in the water had an addictive effect that effectively tied them to that world forever, as going without it for extended periods sickened them.[1]
Lasting for about a decade, Ravid Stroud's career of piracy was ended thanks to Nik's Cavaliers. When Baron Stroud received a new lead from a Capellan merchant vessel passing through the area, he hired the mercenary unit to investigate Reckoning facilities on Gouderak and Watermael, hoping to finally learn the fate of his son. This led them to Vakarel, where despite attempts to incapacitate Ravid's BattleMech, he ultimately died in the fighting.[1]
Notes
Despite the request to capture him alive, the only possible fate is Ravid's death.[1]
