Description

The Revenant drone was a Word of Blake war machine manufactured from a dedicated plant located near the Devils Peak facility that served as Precentor Martial Cameron St. Jamais' headquarters on Terra. The Revenant was a quadrepedal BattleMech drone; one of three different designs to be brought into service by the Word of Blake during the later years of the Jihad, more Revenants saw service than either of the other robotic designs.[1]

Like the other two drone 'Mech designs, the Revenant was only encountered during battles within the Sol system, seeing combat on Luna, Mars and Terra. In common with the other drones the Revenant lacked a manned cockpit; instead, the 'Mech was controlled by a Robotic Cockpit and was prone to erratic behaviour and poor tactical decisions. Seen to perform strangely at times when exposed to ECM effects, the Revenant was clumsy at the best of times, and rarely acted with any regard to tactics or survival. The allied coalition forces encountering the Revenant initially believed that it was some new form of Manei Domini in action, until examination of increasing amounts of salvage confirmed that the Revenant was in fact an unmanned design.[1]

The Revenant was primarily intended to engage light armour and infantry, a role that its' weapon mix favoured, but the Revenant was hampered by a combination of mobility and armour more common to Succession War era scout 'Mechs than the more advanced designs commonplace in the late 31st century. The sheer numbers that the Revenant was deployed in, combined with the unusual design and odd behaviour initially caused the allied coalition forces some concern, but it soon became clear that the Revenant wasn't a battle-changing capability but rather a desperate attempt to shore up the Blakist's weakening defenses.[1]

The manufacturing lines for the various drone 'Mechs were discovered during the fighting for Devils Peak, but that same action saw the production lines destroyed; when the coalition forces investigated further, it was discovered that a Blakist computer virus had erased the designs, schematics and programming specifications for the drone 'Mechs, making it impossible to determine if the three designs last seen during the struggle for Terra were the be-all and end-all of the programme or simply the tip of the iceberg.[1]

Armament

The Revenant's armament was divided equally between the left and right torso, each of which was equipped with an ER Medium Laser, a Medium Pulse Laser and a pair of Light Machine Guns. A single ton of ammunition for the Light Machine Guns was placed in the central torso.[1]

Variants

No known variants of the Revenant were identified during the drone's brief existence.[1]

Quirks

The Revenant had two design quirks:

  • Non-Standard Parts
  • Obsolete/3079
