Planetary Geography

Robinson has three major landmasses, Canaan, Megiddo and Solomon. The capital city, Beuller, is located on Canaan.[2]

Planetary History

Colonization & Rise of the Sandoval family

The planet was first settled by colonists from the First Terran Exodus, who were attracted by its rich black soil and pleasant living conditions. The majority of the land's early settlers were farmers who soon discovered the world was rich in mineral and oil deposits. However, off planet corporations seeking to exploit the mineral wealth soon arrived and came into conflict with the farmers, who had already claimed the majority of the planet's available land. This resulted in a political crisis and the collapse of the planetary government. The Robinson planetary militia commander, David Sandoval, stepped forward and took control of the failed government. Declaring himself "Lord Protector", he seized the foreign companies' assets and lands to stabilize the situation. He forged a land-reform bill which shifted control of all land transactions to his new government. This resulted in the Sandoval family becoming incredibly rich. Though new policies eventually came into place to weaken this arrangement, the Sandoval family had already become the planet's ruling nobility.[11]

Founding of the Federated Suns & Davion Civil War

With the founding of the Federated Suns, Robinson became one of the five seats of power under House Davion. The head of the Sandoval family gained the title of Prince, and control of what was then known as the Terran March. This began what became known as the Five Prince Era, a period of divided rule which lead to the Davion Civil War. Following the war, the Federated Suns was reorganized and Robinson was made capital of the newly formed Draconis March despite the Sandovals backing of Rostov.[12]

Star League & Succession Wars

The planet lost portions of its rich soil to heavy mining during this period, limiting its ability to feed itself. However, its exports of raw materials allowed construction of Dropships & JumpShips, making the world wealthy and able to afford food imports. Following the fall of the Star League, House Kurita forces invaded and occupied the world for a number of decades. As a result, Robinson suffered a prolonged period of starvation and the destruction of many of its heavy industries. Only in the 31st Century has the planet's economic wealth been restored.

Jihad

In January 3071 the Word of Blake attacked Robinson;[13][14] and it would be more than a year before Robinson was liberated at the hands of a joint Com Guard-AFFS force. Robinson was finally free on the 2nd of February 3072.[15][16] Luckily for the Draconis March - and the Federated Suns as a whole - the decision by the Word of Blake to make use of Robinson Standard BattleWorks, combined with quick thinking and action on the part of the liberating forces prevented the complete destruction of the manufacturing facilities.[17]

Post-Jihad Era

In 3079 Robinson was still recovering from the Jihad; the Robinson Standard Battleworks plant had less than half of its production lines operating, while the Robinson Battle Academy, also located in the city of Tiberias, was being rebuilt in underground concrete bunkers.[2] While the Robinson Battle Academy suffered heavy damage during the Jihad and had yet to reconstitute its training battalion,[18] the Combat Training Centre in Osis Minor on Solomon was still operating, training students via its Infantry, Battle Armor, Conventional Armor and Conventional Fighter training programmes. [19]

Important Battles

Davion Civil War

Robinson was the seat of the Rostov line. The family had huge influence with the troops during the civil war.[20]. Alexander Davion needed the troops and their support badly for the coquest to gain the Federated Suns for himself. Cooperation between Alexander and Dimitri Rostov was difficult. The Civil War was decided in a naval battle over Megian. Cassandra Varnay retreated back to the Capellan Confederation with all her hired troops. During the reconstruction phase after the civil war the Prince tried to rebuild the structure of the Suns but the Rostovs were angry and blamed him, calling for Alexander to be an desposed. Dimitri Rostov gathered troops on Robinson but the Prince used overwhelming forces to bring the planet under his control.[21]

Succession Wars

During the Second Succession War Robinnson was a number of worlds assaulted by the Draconis Combine in 2840 as part of a Combine plan to freeze AFFS forces in a contested area of the border between the two realms. A large raid was sent against Robinson in order to try and draw off Davion forces, but the assult was quickly repeled and haad little effect in misdirecting the Federated Suns forces. [22]

During the Marathon Offensive of Myogi Kurita in the 2850s the Suns lost only one world to the Draconis Combine, Robinson, but it was an symbol to the people of the Federated Suns. The Coordinator led 4 of his best 'Mech units (Sword of Light) against 3 defending Davion 'Mech regiments on the planet. The invasion was early decided because the DCMS had attacked Kentares IV simultaneously with Robinson and the Federation High Command have no reserve units available as reinforcements. The AFFS retreated off-world and swore to came back.[23]

Notes

Handbook: House Davion lists the years of 2879 and 2891 as the year that Robinson is reclaimed by the Federated Suns. Based on supporting information within the sourcebook, 2891 appears to be the correct year.
