Description[edit]
Space Marines are infantry specially trained to fight in both normal and zero-gravity environments.[1] While most ships have their own Marine contingents, the largest of these was for many years unheard-of. Working in secrecy for decades on WarShips that were unknown to the entire Inner Sphere, the Com Guard WarShip Fleet Marines developed many skills in close quarter combat for fighting aboard space vessels. These skills came in handy during the Jihad, as many fleet battles often degenerated into boarding actions.[2]
Armament[edit]
The primary armament of Com Guard Marines is the Sunbeam Laser Pistol, their short range working favorably in tight quarters. For additional firepower these Marines are armed with Blazer Rifles.[2]
Other weaponry and equipment known to have been used by ComStar's marines and/or various other space based marine forces and elements (including mercenary units) throughout human space include:
- Respirator
- Filter and Humidifier Masks
- Hostile Environment Suit
- Portable Life Support Unit
- Light Environment Suit
- Marine Combat Environment Suit
- NL-42 "Battle Taxi"
- Elemental armor [space variant]) (Elemental Marines of the various Clans. Often organized as Binaries, or more rarely as Stars)
- NL-45 Gunboat (small boarding craft used by the Elemental Marines of some Clans. Generally are used to convey a Point of battle armor, i.e. five Elementals, to a target ship or station, though they are also used on occasion for mixed or wholly non-Elemental marine boarding contingents)
- Aerie Power Armor (Used by some non-Elemental Marines of Clan Snow Raven)
- G12 / G13 Tornado Light Power Armor (Blakist marines)
- Infiltrator Mk. II battle armor (Marine variant) (AFFS Navy Marines)

- Void medium battle armor [DCA variant] (Draconis Combine Admiralty Marines)
- Firedrake Support Needler (Battle Armor)
- Null-G Pack
- Engineer's Portable Console

- Sonic Stunner
- Medusa Whip (Known to be used by at least some non-Elemental Marines of Clan Wolf)[4]
- Needler Pistol
- Needler Rifle
- Laser Rifle / Pulse Laser Rifle
- *Mauser 960 Assault System (Standard issue rifle of the old SDLF Marine Corps, also known as the Star League Marine Corps)
