Evening, CW101: I thought I'd share this example with you regarding references, since -like me- you do a lot of corrective edits to references. In this case, we have the source title in italics, comma, page number, comma, source article title in "quotations". The source article title is copied exactly as it is used in the source material. If notes by the member are added to the reference, we put in a colon (:) and then the note. No periods (.) are used to finish it off. Does that make sense?--Revanche (talk|contribs) 22:02, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Dragoons Images

Hy, have you any idea where we can found, images from Dechan Fraser and Jenette Rand, i search in all my sources and my litte databas...but grml.--Doneve 00:19, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

No, I don't think so. In the novel Wolf Pack, there is a picture of Fraser talking to Takashi Kurita, but its from behind. :( ClanWolverine101 00:51, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
  • Hmm, ok i look what i do can to bring it on top.--Doneve 00:56, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Vasily Cherenkoff

Vasily Cherenkoff is up. Yes, another Kuritan Warlord jerk. Everyone who worked for Takashi Kurita was an ass-hole. It was essentially a job requirement. :P ClanWolverine101 05:27, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

The Planet Thomas

The planet Thomas has been posted. Apparently, its a small, Liao world that keeps getting left off the maps. Feel free to discuss this on the Talk:Thomas page. ClanWolverine101 20:48, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Barber's Marauder IIs

Barber's Marauder IIs is up. I'm actually quite proud of this one, as I used all the current templates. I managed to find mention of them in a fairly long list of works. Also : The idea a full battalion of 100 ton Marauder IIs jumping up and down chasing somebody always amused me. Like Jurassic Park. :P ClanWolverine101 03:58, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Tamar Jagers is up. These guys have a weird history, in that they were there and then they weren't. Feel free to hit their "Discussion" page. ClanWolverine101 18:25, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Infantry

Hello my friend,

please can you help me to develope a infobox with following content:

Notable Unit: DEST Heavy Response Platoon Tech Base (Rating): Inner Sphere (E/X-E-E) Transport Weight: 4 tons Equipment: Primary Weapon: Secondary Weapon: Armor: Battle Value: 95 Notes: Platoon Type (Specialty): Ground MP: Jump MP: Platoon Size (Squad/Platoon): Armor Divisor: To-Hit Modifier (Range in Hexes): Maximum Weapon Damage (# of Troopers):

tnx

I forget... I will support your work with the updating of all military units. I will concentrate on the tactic and other small types.Neuling 21:32, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Neuling - I appreciate it. I like the idea of an Infantry infobox, but its probably outside of my expertise. ClanWolverine101 21:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
I Jump in, I create the needed Infantry Infobox, on next day, i hope you guys enjoy it.--Doneve 21:48, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Okidoky, i added a Infantry Units Infobox example, any thoughts.--Doneve 20:42, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Richard Steiner II

Richard Steiner II is up. Yeah, another jerk. It seems to be a thing with me. :) Anyway, I was proud of the research I did on this one, though I used quite a few "red links" (some of which are now on my to-do list). Still, I think the overall quality was good. ClanWolverine101 05:08, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Tamar Pact

Tamar Pact is up. What do people think? ClanWolverine101 18:17, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Hy ClanWolverine, very very nice article.--Doneve 18:20, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

sub-stub

Hey, tnx for your message. I have two questions to you:

1st: How many content is necessary for an article that he doesn't fall under the sub-stub category?
2nd: Can we create a common style for the biography like the units?

with best regards Neuling 18:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

No problem. To answer your questions:
1) Ask Rev. :)
2) Sure. The pic just jumped out at me because it was huge; most of the pics are "thumbs".

Cassie Suthurn

Hi Wolverine. I'm slowly doing Cassie Suthorn article, i do have the novel. I'm nearly burned myself out writing first two. I plan to do it within next or so. -- Wrangler 11:57, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

That's cool. I just through some stuff up there so it wouldn't be forgotten. Thanks. ClanWolverine101 21:17, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

2010 Founders Awards

Hey Wolverine! For being with us for just a year, you've had a huge impact on the quality of articles on BTW. The research and level of detail you put into articles is reflected immediately on the site. Thanks for all of your hard work! You've been awarded the Founder's Superior Editor of the Year award: Nicjansma 06:21, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Founder's Superior Writer of the Year Award

Thank you very much! Its nice to be recognized! :) ClanWolverine101 03:37, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Personal - Equipment

Hey wolverine. What is your opinion about my latest article about the euipments? I know it must be filled with additional information from the indivdual sources. I will do this the next couple of days. For help or any helpful thougths I'm grateful. Neuling 22:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Neuling - Its an impressive amount of material. I would suggest a new Project:Discussion page to go over thingslike formatting. (Much like you see with mechs, character bios, and planets.) Does that makes sense? ClanWolverine101 22:30, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Kester Hsiun Chi

Kester Hsiun Chi is up. Yet another minor Robert Charrette character I've become enamored with. :) ClanWolverine101 06:10, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Hy, sorry i have only the pdf version, with no pics :(.--Doneve 14:17, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh well. Thanks anyway! ClanWolverine101 06:23, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

7th Lyran Regulars

7th Lyran Regulars are up. These poor guys never stood a chance. Hey Doneve - got an insignia image for me? :) ClanWolverine101 11:47, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Isoroku

I laughed when I saw your summary memo, but can you please fill in the licensing info for File:Isoroku.jpg? I'm curious as to where it comes from and we can be fairly certain it falls under fair use. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 23:48, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Done. Sorry - I don't do images often. ClanWolverine101 01:08, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

One Year

Wow. So I have been an Editor and Writer on Sarna.net for one year. In that year, I feel I've gotten to know a lot of you a little bit, and perhaps you've gotten to know me. I'd like to thank Rev and many others for really guiding me early on, helping me conform what I was doing to the greater whole without discouraging me at all. I'd like to thank Doneve, not only for his incredible amount of content, but for helpfully providing images to character bio articles, which helps make good articles into great ones. I'd like to thank Nic for starting this up in the first place, and for honoring me with a Founder's award. I'm grateful to all of you. (Yes, even you, Scaletail. :) ) Most of all, and this is selfish of me, I'm grateful to have an output where I can pursue my passion for writing.

When I look at some of my early contributions, I confess I do cringe a little. I was looking for my voice with respect to Sarna.net, and hadn't found it yet. I think I made progress with my Waco Rangers article, and I think I hit my groove with my later character articles. Along the way, I like to think I've helped improve other articles around the wiki, many with relatively small copyedits and "cleanup" tags reminding me to come back; others with far more substantial contributions. I've racked up a decent Edit Count (though I'll never touch Doneve. ;) ), but I like to think I've done so in good faith.

Because honestly? In my opinion, no article on this site is ever truly complete. There are always potential changes to be made, as the vision of the wiki changes. Even the product articles may need editing from time to time to note a reprinting, new versions (like the TROs), and new contexts. There are almost always copyedits, and compromises to style. So even though part of me considers the articles I've written from scratch to be my "children", another part of me knows I need to let them go, and (hopefully) let them grow with the help of other editors.

As we move forward, I hope to put a dent in the "to do" list of new articles I keep by my desk. I hope the wiki will grow in respect to the Classic Battletech community, which was always healthier than WizKids understood. I hope we are joined by more editors with a passion for this fictional universe and a willingness to work with others. I hope good thoughts for all of you.

Thanks all.

- ClanWolverine101 06:18, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks you to, for your great Bio articles.--Doneve 11:16, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Lyran Rangers

Convo here - Talk:Lyran Rangers - Issue I feel is important. ClanWolverine101 05:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Isle of Sky

Okay - I just finished the Isle of Skye. It was by far the longest, most difficult original article I have written yet. It may also be the most controversial, as I would humbly submit that all linked references to the Federation of Skye, Free Skye and the various rebellions (at least three) should redirect to this one article. No doubt we'll have some discussion on that. Nevertheless, I was as thorough as possible. Please give it a look and give me your opinion when you have a chance. Thanks. ClanWolverine101 08:13, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Hy ClanWolverine, i give you this All Purpose Award, 4th ribbon award for your, great great Isle of Skye article, i love it.Greetings--Doneve 09:49, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! ClanWolverine101 14:23, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Academies

Hey Wolverine, I will talk about this topic. I wrote most of the academy articelson sarna and they are accepted by most of the users. THink about it. Every Fieldmanual hold entire pages about the individual acadmies. Every academy is unique, some are the onyl hope for the cadets, because others are former SDLF institution like Nagelring and Northwind. Some supports large cadets corps and other gradute only a few dozens soldiers per year. My overview provide the common users with a feeling how long whould it take to accomplish the academic carrer successfull. Not every study field is provide on all academies and some have a high specialization. In the near future I will expande this chapter on sarna with more material. Neuling 17:04, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

That's a good point about the Field Manuals. I think, perhaps, if the formatting of the tables was a bit more polished, I'd be sold on the concept. Also, I don't know how comprehensive we want to be on the MW "Career Paths". Regardless, I respect the ambition of the article. ClanWolverine101 18:39, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
The academies are a cornerstone to most of the military organisation and I think that all aspects of the battletech univers are interesting to cover. I will work out on the influence of the academies, what is different and what are shared features. And remember many leaders of the great houses are former graduates. For example victor steiner davion was on Nagelring, Peter Steiner Davion in contrast on Robinson Battle Academy. I have another question to yow. I will make an article about the different castle brian types, but have not idea how to incorporate the available information in a good article. I have access to the maps and the information to. Please give me a inspiration... Neuling 19:46, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Questíon

Hy, i see in the Isle of Skye article the Gallery section, can you talk to me what for pics you want and i hope i can puted in your great article.--Doneve 20:47, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Doneve - Look what was done with the Protectorate of Donegal. I'd like the same map for the Federation from the Handbook House Steiner. ClanWolverine101 21:19, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
The first map is uploaded.--Doneve 22:03, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
I hope you like the uploaded Federation of Skye Maps :).--Doneve 00:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, thank you! ClanWolverine101 00:40, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi guys, i'm sorry bother you guys, but please make sure these edited/modified canon maps have all the info including the artist info. Øystein Tvedten made all the modern maps in the sourcebooks from Handbooks up to now (2011). Also, though (I'm not administrator), i think these uploaded pictures need to be noted as being modified, regardless. I don't believe they classify as being fandom (i've edited picture i've recently uploaded without adding anything new-original), but please make sure note the changes so a fan/reader will know this not quite the original image. I've added notes of their modifications to the two Isle of the Skye/Federation of Skye maps that were uploaded to Sarna.net. Take care -- Wrangler 04:03, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Understood. Doneve is the expert on images. ClanWolverine101 04:39, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Dexter Kingsley

New article up - Dexter Kingsley. A minor character, but he kept popping up in my other articles, so I ran with it. Frankly, I wanted to do a small, short, but thoroughly-researched article, in contrast to the Federation of Skye article. ClanWolverine101 04:40, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Chakater article => list

Hey, thanks for your message. Let explain my work. I understood your opinions, but can you explain me while many articles with less content are treated different. Many of the subunits to the different factions contain less content and are widely accepted. That will be a mystery to me. 2 more points: 1. I recognize that many of my article had envolved through me or other user. That is my goal. 2. Often I split my work in several stages. First load initial content, Second rework it and Third make a final version. What was helpful in my opinion is to create for several categories list like small mercenary command for charakters and small house units. What do yoz think about it?Neuling 06:01, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

I understand your point about sub-units and conventional units. Yes, the info on these is usually brief. I have consistently advocated that such entries be handled differently - not as their own articles, but as subsections of articles for mech units they are attached to. I have proposed this and been rebuffed. That's fair. I don't like it, but I accept that the community seems to accept it. So you see, my position here is consistent. I feel bio articles should be more solid than this.
I accept your explanation that you hope to have these stub articles expanded upon. My counter to that is that many (if not most) of these characters have no other published material. It is virtually impossible to significantly expand these articles. In my mind, we are better off dealing with them differently - like giving them a sub-section in another article - then putting them up as an article this short. That is just my feeling. I don't know how many in the community agree, but the option of using a sub-stub banner is available to me, so I have considered using it where appropriate. I intend to do so until such time as the community finds its own position on these matters.
Does this make more sense? ClanWolverine101 15:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
I think when we make a site create for minor character it will allow the community to see them at one place and it will be easier to maintance. Let me try something and lets us see what will happen? Neuling 17:36, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Tara Lucas

Таrа Lucas is up. She's part of a personal policy of mine is to eventually write articles on anything I "red-link" in an earlier article. I think I managed to get a lot of material on a minor character, and since the Dragoons are one of my "things", I enjoyed writing it. ClanWolverine101 03:36, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Opinion

Hey, I have reworked some of my article which are tables includes, please what is your opinion about it and what can I change? Neuling 14:50, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Give me a few examples? ClanWolverine101 15:01, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

An Idea...

Its me again, please take a look at luthien amor works and give me opinion about the look. I can modify all manufacturer sites like this with easy, but before I do such drastical changes I ask you as longtime member with hugh expierence fo advice.Neuling 17:47, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

... I like it, but I would run it by Rev and others, too. ClanWolverine101 18:25, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
  • Jump in, i like the table style in the manufacturing centers category, the manufacturer pages become some structure.--Doneve 19:44, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
  • I like it too. Its cleaner. I wouldn't use the 'Planet' header, though. Its unnecessary, unless you mean to use 'Orbit' or 'Moon' to highlight differences. Also, can you please use wikilinks when you want us to review something you've worked on? Its polite and makes it easier for others to help you out, for the cost of only four characters
    ( & ).--Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:48, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
OOoooo, pretty! --Scaletail 20:06, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I agree. I especially like Neuling's use of tables for Operation Bulldog, and I think we should use them for all the major conflicts. ClanWolverine101 21:30, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Evening, CW101: I thought I'd share this example with you regarding references, since -like me- you do a lot of corrective edits to references.
