Excerpt from INN 3136: "Analysis of the acquired Wendigo salvage is nearly complete. The salvage tells us primarily that the Nova Cats have certainly not decided to abandon the OmniMech technology model. The Wendigo shares the same weight class as the Shadow Cat, explaining why our forces can never seem to take them out of commission for long. We also suspect that there may be a third OmniMech of this weight class, though we are unable to confirm its existence at this time."

Description

The Wendigo was first spotted with Clan Nova Cat forces during the joint Nova Cat and Draconis Combine assault on former Republic of the Sphere worlds. The Wendigo is noted to be one of a series of three Medium Omnimech designs in use by the Nova Cat touman during the Dark Age era, the other two being the Avalanche and Shadow Cat.

The Wendigo features a Torso Mounted Cockpit. This design feature allowed for the use of CASE and weapon pods in the Wendigos' head. While the skeleton of the machine is of standard [[Endo Steel] construction, the mech is armored with a layer of advanced Laser Reflective Armor. A 300 XL Fusion Engine allows for speeds of up to 97 kph. The Wendigo does not mount Jump Jets.

There is some thought that the design was influenced by the Draconis Combine.

Armament

Sporting a variety of weapon systems, the only known Wendigo configuration mimics another Clan Nova Cat Omnimech, the older Huntsman. A head mounted LRM-10 system provides indirect fire support, while an arm mounted Ultra AC/2, Streak SRM-6, and four ER Medium Lasers provide direct fire capability at a variety of ranges.

Alternate Configurations

While the Wendigo is an Omnimech, its other configurations remain unknown at this time.
