Description

The Wulfen is a Clan Wolf Light OmniMech which was first introduced shortly before the Clan's departure from its original Occupation Zone. The 'Mech utilizes its high speed and stealth technology to engage opponents in long-range combat.

The 'Mech was first designed on Tamar at the Clan's W-7 Facilities in 3137. However, due to the Clan's exodus to Lyran Commonwealth's border would delay the design from entering into production until five years later. The prototypes of the Wulfen's performance would help urge the Clan to put the 'Mech into production, first into limited production on Weingarten, and then later fully on Thermopolis in 3142.[3]

Armament and Capacities

The Wulfen uses mix of advanced Clan and Inner Sphere technologies in its construction. The 'Mech is fitted with 300-Rated Model 39b Extra-Extralight Fusion Engine, Inner Sphere XL Gyro, and Process 12 Endo Steel which give the 'Mech enough room for 10 tons of OmniPod space. Among the 'Mech other features is a ECM Suite, Full-Head Ejection System, and 6.5 tons of Imstar V-Stealth Armor.

The Prime Configuration of the Wulfen features Class 2 Ultra Autocannon mounted in left arm actuator. A 3-tubed Advanced Tactical Missile system found in the 'Mech's arm which aids the MechWarrior in both long and short-range combat. Both weapons are allotted a ton of ammunition and CASE II in each 'Mech respective arms where its parent weapon is located. The Prime uniquely fitted with a half-ton cargo pod in its left torso.[4]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt. Config. C
A light brawler, the 'Mech's C Configuration sports three ER Medium Lasers tied into a Targeting Computer. The configuration also comes with ten Jump Jets give its advantage in close quarters combat. BV(2.0)= 1,334[9][10]
  • Alt. Config. D
The D contains a LB 2-X Class Autocannon in the Left arm, whiles the right arm is home of Artemis V Fire Control System guided SRM 2 launcher. Both arms have CASE II protecting the 'Mech's 1 ton ammunition allotments. BV(2.0)=859[11][12]
  • Alt. Config. E
The E Configuration is fast generalist, where its uses blend of flexible missiles and laser weaponry in its weapons configuration. The 'Mech has two 3-tubed ATM launchers and CASE II protected ammo in the right torso, while left arm has pair of ER Medium Laser and single Micro Pulse Laser tied into a Targeting Computer. The 'Mech can achieve brief burst speeds due to presence of a Supercharger. BV(2.0)=1,839[13][14]
  • Alt. Config. H
A powerful close-in fighter, this configuration fitted out with all-heavy laser layout gives the Configuration considerable duration during long missions. The H contains single Improved Heavy Large Laser and pair of smaller Improved Medium Lasers in the right arm. To help keep the 'Mech's weapon heat under control is four additional Double Heat Sinks. BV(2.0)= 1,556[15][16]

Notes

The Wulfen was first created by Wizkids' MechWarrior Dark Age Collectable Miniatures game as a part of its Wolf Strike expansion set. The figure was only used for the CGC game's Unique figures. The 'Mech was later adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined in the tabletop game once the company advanced the franchise's timeline to 3145. The D Configuration's weapons configuration closely resembles the originally listed stats which were listed for the Wulfen with exception of emission of the Narc Missile Beacon Launcher.
