Background[edit]
In 2475 Captain-General Carlos Marik of the Free Worlds League used Oriente as a staging area for a surprise naval attack into the Terran Hegemony, due to paranoia. A spy among battle planners informed the Hegemony of the attack plans. Cameron hastily assembled a task force of his own, with orders to jump as soon as possible. The Terran Hegemony fleet jumped to Oriente in a surprise counterattack.[1], [2]
