Istros Callimachus was the commanding officer of the Black Sharks as of 2781.[1]

Colonel Callimachus and the Black Sharks , formerly the Thirteenth Republic Light Lancers of the Rim Worlds Republic Military, were contracted by the Draconis Combine in 2781. The Sharks' speed and firepower made them prime candidates for service against the Federated Suns and the unit distinguished itself in several minor actions along the Combine-Suns front. When the Second Sword of Light accused Callimachus' Black Sharks of misappropriating FedSuns equipment, they were dishonored and rotated away from the border. When the Coordinator sought units for a raid on the world of Tyrfing in 2788, Callimachus and the Sharks saw it as their only way of redeeming their reputation and quickly volunteered.[1]
