Captain Josh Freebard was a decorated Federated Suns aerospace fighter pilot during the late Star League Era.[1]
History[edit]
Freebard was a notable Centurion pilot, at the time the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns were replacing them in service with Sparrowhawk light aerospace fighters. He sought to oppose the transition based on the loss of weapons range it involved, challenging a number of Sparrowhawk pilots to duels in order to make his point.
Despite being initially successful, he eventually suffered two humiliating defeats, by opponents who dragged the battle into atmospheric conditions where they could outmaneuver his Centurion. Following these defeats Freebard grudgingly accepted the superiority of the newer fighters.[1]
