Plot summary[edit]
A small and down on its luck aerospace heavy pirate band based on an asteroid within the Pirates' Haven, The Mahdi's Madmen, plans a raid on a Federated Suns mining transport with a cargo which can help restore their fortunes. However while the pirate leader Mustafa al-Tariq plans the raid, one of his lieutenants Harad Rafiki plans his own revenge on al-Tariq, for having left his brother Nariq to die during a previous mission.
