Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Celonte, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Celonte" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

Disambig pages[edit]

Hi Celonte, thanks for taking an interest in disambiguation. It's been a project of mine for most of the last year and it's been expanded quite a bit. If you're interested in doing more, I'd be happy to have a chat. You can find me on the Sarna's Discord with the same username.

Sometime in the next few weeks I'll update the disambiguation policy/how-to pages. But one thing to mention now is that if there are only 2 pages with the same name, and one of them is a primary article (with no parenthesis after the name in the title), then we don't need to create a disambig page. Just add a seeother note at the top of both pages linking to each other (moons, continents, and similar redirects don't need one). This way the reader doesn't have to go through an extra page to get to the page they want. Hope this makes sense. Csdavis715 (talk) 21:11, 16 January 2024 (EST)

Add: right after I posted this message, I found another Wasp article that could be added on that disambig page, so it's good to stay. I also appreciate you creating that Hal (BattleMech) redirect the other day. Thanks and hope to work with you more. Csdavis715 (talk) 21:35, 16 January 2024 (EST)

Awards board[edit]

Hi Celonte, I wanted to say thanks by presenting you with presenting you with a Casual Edit award for your additions to the Hel and Reginald Marik disambig pages. It looks like you've caught on perfectly to how it's formatted and I appreciate having help with this project! Casual Edit Award, 1st ribbon

Regarding your Phoenix Hawk disambig page, it was brought to my attention that these pages need to be for "different things called" rather "different versions of the thing called." If there was a second page on the wiki (like an aerospace fighter) with the same name, then sure we could add those other mech models to the list since the page already exists. But at this time it's not needed. I recognize that's partially my fault for not having the policy/how-to page set up yet.

There is something related I need help on if you're willing, and feel free to say no or ignore this ask: The Exodus disambig page has dozens of links directing here instead of to their proper pages. If you have time, I would love help getting these sorted. [Here's an example] of what I mean.

Again thanks for your interest and help! Csdavis715 (talk) 19:24, 17 January 2024 (EST)

Checking in[edit]

How is everything? I haven't seen you do any edits in a while, but if you're interested in helping out with a big but easy project with low stress, there's something I'm interested in working with you on. Let me know. Csdavis715 (talk) 04:40, 30 March 2024 (EDT)
