Title(s)Count of Bluford
ProfessionNoble

William Keller Reese was the first Count of Bluford. He was unique in that he made his fortune by literally gambling his life.[1]

History[edit]

Knowing full well that Bluford's smallest, easternmost continent grew a strain of tobacco that was more addictive and deadly than other strains, William Reese entered tontines specifically with smokers taking a calculated risk that he would outlive them, and by the age of seventy-five he had amassed over seventy million D-Bills. House Davion granted Reese a title of nobility in 2589 for supporting their entry into the Star League both politically and financially. Though his grandparents and great-grandparents all lived into their nineties, Reese would fall short of family standards, dying at the age of eighty-six.[1]

Reese's success affected the social culture of Bluford as tontines became enormously popular in the twenty-seventh century, followed later by movements to ban them and further still by organizations like the Bluford Gambling Association to protect them.[1]
