History
The founding date of the Fourth Oriente Hussars is unknown but the unit was in existence by 2765,[1] and served during the First and Second Succession Wars.[2][3]
Anton's Revolt
A Loyalist unit, the Fourth remained on Atreus throughout Anton's Revolt.[4]
Andurien Secession and the 3040s
The Fourth attacked Lopez along with the First Free Worlds Guards and the Thirtieth Marik Militia in 3038, where they wore down the heavier Sixth Defenders of Andurien with raids, prompting the rebel unit to surrender in October of that year when combined losses made further effective resistance impossible. The effort also cost the Fourth much of its strength, and they spent the rest of the war guarding a supply base on Deschenes.[5]
By the late 3040s the Hussars were back at full strength and had gained renown for both repelling raids upon Conquista by the Capellan-employed Tooth of Ymir mercenaries and then counterraiding Sigma Mare. Thomas Marik, wishing to simultaneously reward the popular unit and transfer its politically unreliable members out of seditious Andurien, redeployed the regiment to a prestige post on Atreus where he could prevent the Hussars' commander from instigating any anti-Federal activity.[5]
Operation Guerrero and after
The unit secured Wasat in conjunction with the Thirteenth Marik Militia, Second Sirian Lancers and the mercenary Twenty-first Centauri Lancers.[5]
At this point the regiment was regarded by the LCCC as one of the most troublesome in the FWLM, due to several unit members vocally opposing both a strong Federal government and the Liao-Marik alliance.[5]
By 3067 the Fourth Hussars had been assigned to Federal control, much to the unit's annoyance. Despite FWLM attempts to control the unit via its supply chain, the Hussars still managed to field a disproportionate amount of upgrades. This was allegedly achieved via black market sales of humanitarian aid intended for the Chaos March, prompting SAFE to undertake an investigation of the regiment.[6] They were stationed on Wasat.[7]
Hall
In October 3067 the Fourth Hussars were deployed to the Chaos March world of Hall in support of that planet's ruler "Emperor" William Baranov, who had petitioned for admission into the Free Worlds League.[8] The Hussars then engaged the main opposition to Baranov, the 3rd Dismal Disinherited mercenaries, and while Baranov was killed in the fighting the Hussars forced the Disinherited to retreat, securing Hall for the Free Worlds League.[9]
Jihad
The Jihad saw the Fourth Hussars come through with relatively light losses. After pledging their support to the Duchy of Oriente, they restricted their activities to raids and avoiding the heavy fighting. As a result they form the core of the Duchy's defense in the post-Jihad era. In 3079 they were posted on Maritgues.[10]
The Fourth Hussars were horrified to learn about Thomas Halas deception and have transferred their dislike for the federal government of the Free Worlds League to him. Though they held him in low regard, the Fourth was truly loyal to the Grand Duchy of Oriente. The Duchy's commanders knew this, and kept the Fourth on the rolls as a unit to inspire other DDOCFH units to perform to the best of their ability despite their personal feelings.[11] They were the garrison force for Les Halles.[12]
Dark Age
The Fourth Hussars raided Shuen Wan in early 3117. They fought elements of Kraken Unleashed and Warrior House Tsang Xiao. The CCAF forces destroyed a company of Hussars raiding 'Mechs and forced the Hussars to withdraw from the world.[13]
By 3145 the Fourth Hussars was no longer an active unit.[14]
