Canonicity

This weapon was featured in an official BattleTech product, namely the MechAssault series of computer games.[1]

By virtue of being an official albeit not positively canonical product, the game expansion and the weapons and equipment presented therein including this one must be considered apocryphal. The Lava Gun is an ancient weapon design, only seen on Ragnarok and Ymir 'Mechs, and is seen in MechAssault: Phantom War.

Description

The weapon was created from information gathered from the Armor Data-Core. The Lava Gun fires 3 very power and highly damaging projectiles. This weapon generates a very large amount of heat when fired. The projectiles are not capable of tracking targets, and travel quite slow, but can also knock over other 'Mechs on impact.
