Description[edit]
The York was created through extensive refits of some of the 22 Riga II-class WarShips that navigated the War Against the Usurper and that Aleksandr Kerensky managed to take with his Exodus fleet. Along with most other WarShips in the military drawdown that followed, the vessels were mothballed in caches across the Clan Pentagon worlds. While two were destroyed as they fought on the side of the various Pentagon World rebels, six survived alongside Nicholas Kerensky during his Second Exodus and were upgraded after 2947. These refit vessels gave way to new constructions when the Political Century saw twelve new vessels built. The new class was particularly popular with Clan Star Adder,[4] who quickly used the vessels to defeat a Clan Nova Cat Trial for a BattleMech factory at Brim.[2]
It was reported in 3061 that persistent rumors were circulating amongst the Clans that Clan Coyote had commissioned Clan Snow Raven to construct a new York-class WarShip for them, the first to be constructed in more than a hundred years.[5] By 3067, the Coyotes had a new York in their touman: the CCS Broken Sea.[6] Few York survived the chaos of the Jihad and Wars of Reaving. At least one is still found in service in the Inner Sphere,[7] though another was lost without explanation after the destruction of the Smoke Jaguars.[8] Yorks were also found with the Home Clans until their loss of contact with the Inner Sphere.[9][10][11]
Armament[edit]
Unlike many other comparable ships, the York-class has extensive anti-fighter weaponry, featuring 24 Small Lasers as well as ER Lasers and Clan-produced Ultra AC/10s for better long-range protection. The York however also has an impressive array of Naval weapons and great armor.[2]
Cargo[edit]
The York's cargo capacity is devoted to fifty fighters in two bays with five complete hanger decks each capable of holding a Star of OmniFighters. An additional five support craft are in a third bay, along with a total of 72,084 tons of cargo. The DropShips are carried on two landing zones in the front section of the ship.[2]
- Bay 1: Aerospace Fighters (25), 4 doors
- Bay 2: Aerospace Fighters (25), 4 doors
- Bay 3: Cargo (72,084 tons), 1 door
- Small Craft (5)

Notes[edit]
- The York class was originally statted to have 595,000 tons of mass. However, this was later adjusted to 600,000 tons. The new mass is confirmed as correct by the ship's MUL entry and TRO:3057 Revised.
