However, they were ambushed by Armor assets of the 8th Rasalhague Regulars as they were trying transfer Marcus to ISF authorities. The ISF personnel had called on Regulars' fellow garrison mate, 12th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre help stop the now rogue Combine unit. Unfortunately, the Cadre was involved with rogue Kurita noble and attacked the parade staging/review area. Their brief exchange of shooting would result in hitting a fuel truck, which killing seven civilians. This would devastate the grandstand that was to be used to announce Republic's formation.

The 1st Tyr's BattleMechs arrived on scene and shattered the 12th Sun Zhang. Proceeded to spaceport after the 8th Rasalhague had successfully rescued their leader, Marcus Kurita.
