Description

Being surrounded by hostile realms, the Hegemony Armed Forces recognized the need for a small, powerful craft to patrol the approaches to Hegemony worlds and that could delay any intruders, which eventually resulted in the Vincent Class Corvette.

After years of making due with four-ship patrol squadrons to balance the abilities and weakness of it's Bonaventure and Vigilant Class corvettes and a massive volume of automated surveillance satellites, which still failed stall the successful invasion of Terra Firma by the Capellan Confederation in 2409, the Terran Hegemony commissioned a new corvette with double the previous detection-capability, sizable firepower and flexibility to allow future advances. Delhi Ships, a small manufacturer of military transport vessels that later became Delhi Warships, submitted a design that would became the Vincent corvette.

What set the Vincent apart from previous Hegemony corvettes was its size, almost twice that of previous designs, and the use of what the designers called "smart modularity", which was Delhi Ships' attempt to confer with other contractors to standardize ship fittings and systems. The large size of the class and smart modularity were key to the ship's longevity, allowing the relatively roomy Vincent to accommodate all technological advances and ensuring the thousands of Vincents built continued service with the HAF, SLDF and even the Clan Toumans.

Armament

   2 Barracuda Missile Tubes
   4 Luxor-10 Series NAC/10
   8 Thunderbolt Large Lasers

The Vincent's four Luxor-10 Series NAC/10's, two Barracuda Missile Tubes give it credible anti-WarShip firepower, especially because corvettes usually fight as squadrons. The eight Thunderbolt Large Lasers only provide minimal deterent against attacking Aerospace Fighters however.

Cargo

91,085 tons

  • Bay 1: Fighters (10)
  • Bay 2: Small Craft (4)
  • Bay 3: Cargo

Variants

  • Mark 39 - The most common model prior to the Amaris Coup, the Mark XXXIX features an Ulsop Al Surveillance Computer, more than doubling the effective detection range of the earlier Mark XXXVIII. The Mark XXXIX carries two Howser 2G2 "Hotfire" engines, their powerful thrust gives the Vincent great swiftness and maneuverability.
  • Mark 42 - The model in use with Clans during the inital invasion of the Inner Sphere.

Named Vessels

  • ComStar Alacrity
  • ComStar Resilience
  • ComStar Determination
  • FWLM Liberty - Previously the SLS ship, reconditioned to form part of the FWL's secret fleet.
