Unit Description
The Otomo are the Palace Household Guard of the Draconis Combine. Slightly more than a regiment in size, their sole purpose is to protect the Unity Palace on Luthien and the Coordinator. Members of the Otomo are taken from Sword of Light regiments and the five military districts. Unit composition is a mix of 'Mechs, armor, and infantry. Only a member of the Kurita family can become commander of the Otomo.
History
Third Succession War
As a young officer, future Coordinator Takashi Kurita rose to fame in the 2nd Sword of Light with his leadership and battlefield prowess, inspiring the already elite unit to even greater heights. Takashi eventually rose to command the regiment's heavy assault battalion prior to his promotion to the Otomo in 3000.

The kokuryu-kai elements of Otomo turn on Coordinator Theodore Kurita. However, the mercenary company Camacho's Caballeros and the 9th Ghost Regiment intervened and stopped the traitors.[1] Also, the of Chancellors's illegitimate son, Franklin Sakamoto had also arrived to defend his father. The Otomo, went through a brutal purge, with Sakamoto becoming Infantry Companies's Companies.
Jihad
In December in 3067, the Black Dragons controlled forces invaded Luthien. The coupe's assault shattered the Otomo and its sister unit Izanagi Warriors. The two Coordiator's guardians unit survivors joined 1st Genyosha in fighting the traitors. The unit was used conduct series of raids against their enemy to gain salvage to rebuilt force.[2] After the liberation of Luthien in December 3074, the unit was rebuilt by the survivors.

Notes
The unit's insignia is a gold shield with the official Kurita crest painted on the 'Mech's upper left torso. The Otomo 'Mechs use a flat black paint scheme with gold highlights in battle and on parade.
