The 2nd Regiment was one of the 12th Star Guards regiments.

History[edit]

Star League era[edit]

In 2764 the Tenth Heavy Assault Regiment was assigned, as a part of the XXXI Corps, Thirteenth Army, to District 3 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery during the Periphery Uprising.[1]

The Tenth provided support to the Jump Infantry Divisions of XXXI Corps.[2] The Tenth was destroyed as an operational command during the Hegemony Campaign.[1]

Succession Wars[edit]

After the collapse of the Star League the remains of the Tenth made the decision to turn mercenary, forming one of the founding regiments of the Twelfth Star Guards[3]

The Second along with the Eleventh and Seventeenth Recon Battalions of the Eridani Light Horse led ten other regiments in the effort to take back Loric on behalf of House Steiner in 2978. After four months fighting the Marik defenders retreated from the planet.[4]

In 3025 the First was under contract to the Lyran Commonwealth and stationed on Ellison IV.[5] During the Fourth Succession War the Lyran Commonwealth used the Second to capture Cebalrai as a part of the exploitation phase of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG.[6] While the Second managed to conquer the planet, the Combine counterattacks launched during the same timeframe as the final wave of Lyran attacks saw the Combine recapture Cebalrai.[7]

Operation REVIVAL[edit]

In March 3050 the Second was stationed on Toland when Clan Jade Falcon invaded. The Second had taken a defensive position in the Judea Jungle alongside the Toland Defense Force, however assaults from the Ninth Talon Cluster and the Turkina Keshik forced them to retreat out of cover across the exposed Cantor Climb. Here they were strafed by Falcon aerospace assets and harried all the way back to Toland City. Less than a company of troops reached the defenses there and the majority were killed in the final Falcon attack.[8]

A handful of survivors including Colonel Franklin Pierce-Marinetti made it off planet and escaped to Wotan to join the remnant of their sister unit, the First Regiment. The Falcons hit the planet in June 3050 and the Guards attempted to fight them off alongside the Wotan Tamar March Militia. Colonel Pierce-Marinetti coordinated a series of small unit actions until he was killed in an airstrike after which the defenders were easily defeated.[9]
