History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

In the aftermath of the Amaris Civil War the Draconis Combine and other states actively attempted to recruit Star League Defense Force personnel for their growing state military forces, one of the factors that led to Commanding General Aleksandr Kerensky devising Operation EXODUS and taking the bulk of the SLDF out of the Inner Sphere. Among those recruited by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery during this period were two battalions of personnel from the Seventh Jump Infantry Division.[1] The Seventh was a part of XL Corps[3] within the Fifteenth Army,[1] and had taken heavy damage during the Hegemony Campaign. The Seventh was targeted by recruiters from the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces as well; the CCAF recruited two battalions of personnel from the Seventh in 2782, mustering them alongside a battalion of similar recruits from the 147th Mechanized Infantry Division to form the Ninth Tikonov Lancers; the DCMS chose to use those they recruited to reactivate the Ninth Galedon Regulars in 2784.[1]

Second Succession War[edit]

In June 2825 the Fifth and Ninth Galedon Regulars were mobilized to stop the Paul Bunyan Regiment mercenary unit sacking Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery warehouses on Zlatous for food and much needed supplies after the Combine's attempt at absorbing the mercenaries via the so-called Company Store ploy backfired. Ordered by Coordinator Jinjiro Kurita to destroy the Paul Bunyan Regiment's DropShips and seize their JumpShips, the Fifth and Ninth Galedon then assaulted the dug-in mercenaries over the course of two months of vicious fighting that laid waste to much of the planet before the survivors of the unit hijacked a Kurita DropShip and fled to the Periphery.[2]

The heavily depleted Ninth was disbanded during the Second Succession War to replenish other more moderately damaged regiments including the Fifth Sword of Light.
