Description
The Achileus was jointly designed by scientists from the Free Worlds League and Word of Blake. Based upon the Tornado PAL, the result was a scout armor that was difficult to detect with significant offensive firepower. In order to achieve this, the designers skimped somewhat on armor, but its lack of a true combat role, combined with stealth capabilities, means that this is rarely an issue. Though the ground speed is slow, the Achileus packs enough jump jets to leap up to ninety meters at a time. Observers looking back have also noted that this was in some ways the genesis of the Purifier Adaptive Battle Armor that the Blakists used to great effect, as it was during their work on the Achileus that they learned how to use stealth armor.
Armament
The anti-personnel weapon mount usually contains a gun that is capable of dispatching unarmored individuals, such as a sub-machine gun. The modular weapon mount is capable of holding three different heavy weapons.
- Flamer - The Flamer is especially potent against infantry and combat vehicles. Its psychological impact affects all enemies, including MechWarriors. BV (1.0) = 29
- Small Laser - The Small Laser is usually used when Achileus troopers expect to be matched up against hardened targets. BV (1.0) = 34
- Machine Gun - The final weapon the modular weapon mount is willing to accept is the Machine Gun, which is most effective against unarmored infantry. BV (1.0) = 28
Variants
- Word of Blake - This variant is produced by Free Worlds Defense Industries of Gibson for the Word of Blake. In place of the heavy weapon mount, it contains improved sensors and an ECM Suite. BV (1.0) = 23
