Charisse Perry was a MechWarrior from the Republic of the Sphere that fought against DCMS and Dragon's Fury forces that were invading the planet Styx in 3135.

History[edit]

Perry's unit in the Republic Armed Forces was assigned to Styx's vital spaceport city of Lindon's Folly on Gehenna Isle[1] on 4 October 3135.[2] Two days later, she was patrolling along with her colleague Barbarry in his Wasp when they encountered a Combine Centurion and a Ghost boasting a Dragon's Fury colors (Hidechi Welles). The Centurion wanted to kill both RAF 'Mechs, but the Ghost pilot did not allow the attack and bowed in a salute, which was reciprocated by Perry. Afterwards Perry and Barbarry were allowed to leave unharmed.[3]

By 18 October, the Kuritan forces pushed against the defensive line Perry's unit was occupying. A full company of 'Mechs and tanks, plus maybe another company of supporting foot troopers—armored and otherwise—suddenly converged on her position. Perry tried to escape with a fighting withdrawal and was able to cripple a couple DCMS hovers while driving back some Drac Toads, but she would have died at the hands of the same Ghost she had already fought and a Cougar if the Ghost had not helped her with a maneuver that gave her space to escape. She was told after the battle that the Ghost might have decided not to kill her, which was odd considering he fought the RAF forces with vigor and even took a fair chunk out of Lieutenant McCabe's Legionnaire.[4]

On 25 October she found herself attacked by one full lance composed of the Ghost, the Cougar and two Centurions alone with help five minutes away. Perry's hip was blown, and her PPC taken out, but again the Ghost pilot ordered his forces to retreat.[1]

On 8 November, while checking a secure chat, Perry found a haiku:

Lone Ghost stalks Panther.
Three times a kindred life spared.
Ronin awaits word.
  — DFRonin7

which clearly described her encounters with that Dragon's Fury MechWarrior.[5]

By 15 November 3135, she found her Ghost pilot in a secure chat, when she discovered that he considered himself a Samurai, and that bushido orders him to fight only even battles, not against inferior foes.[6]

By 15 December Evan Kaiple was assigned to her company.[7] Her lance was next to Evan's lance on 24 December when they pushed a DCMS line back a good ten kilometers, and she led the charge the whole way. Despite this, the fighting on the planet continued back and forth. When RAF forces would get a ten-kilometer push on one side, DCMS responded by attacking into the suburbs on the other. Neither side could get the upper hand for long — but this was one fight the RAF wouldn't run from.[8]
