Description

Dictator Class DropShip was a Star League era 'Mech Carrier developed for the Star League Defense Forces. It was developed and built by Di Tron Heavy Industries, the ship was dogged by development & bureaucratic delays when it was first started in 2582. Produced with the intent of moving a battalion of BattleMechs, the ship proved to be a reliable design.

The SLDF deployed the ship as part of task force actions instead of independent actions due to its lack of fighter bays and light weaponry. The ship design isolated its 'Mech bays by company size, to protect them from damage incurred to the ship. However, transfer of heavy equipment and 'Mechs to different decks had to be done while the ship was grounded.

Ship production ceased in 2725, when the more capable Overlord class DropShips became available.

Large quantities of these ships were lost during the Star League Civil War, and the Succession Wars almost rendered the design extinct. Many of the survivors seen after the Third Succession War, appear to be in poor repair.

However, by 3075 the Periphery nation, Magistracy of Canopus had gained possession of a large quantity of Dictator DropShips in pristine shape.
