Fiona Fields was an officer with the Crater Cobras during the Fourth Succession War.

During the Sarna campaign of Operation RAT in 3029, Fiona Fields commanded an assault lance with the Black Cobras, First Company. MechWarriors under her command included Lance Tyson, Raymond Hoffmann, and Paul Dobbs.[2]
Lt. Fields kept a journal throughout the campaign. She and her lance were aware that the Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers accelerated away from the rest of the planetary invasion force and landed two days early, only to find themselves outnumbered four-to-one and faced traps, minefields, and other Capellan tricks from the local militia and McCarron's Armored Cavalry. After arriving at drop zone "Blackhole" on May 29, near the city of Backtal and two hundred kilometers from the Big Mac, she spent the next three months mostly with the same routine: go on patrol, guard the supplies, and go to bed.[1]
In September, the fighting against McCarron's Armored Cavalry at Graves Hallow had started, and by November 30, Fiona Fields and her team were barely holding on. She had to split her lance off from the rest of First Company and head for the hills. She heard a rumor that Crater Cobras CO Colonel Richard Westrick was killed by a lucky shot from a Rifleman, but hoped it was not true and did not tell her lance, as their morale was already pretty low.[1]
On December 1, Lt. Fields led her isolated assault lance in an attack on two medium lances from the McCarron's Third Regiment. As it turned out, Colonel Ardan Sortek and the Davion Heavy and Light Guards were already in-system and about to make planetfall.[3] Their orbital 'Mech drop scattered them across a wide area but one lance from the Light Guards led by Leftenant Gerald Drake was able to reinforce Fields' position.[2]
