Admiral Francisca Nieminen was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 9th Fleet from circa 2737 until her death in 2779.[1][2]

Early Career[edit]
A native of the Federated Suns, Nieminen was a graduate of the Albion Military Academy.[1]
9th Fleet[edit]
Nieminen was promoted to lead the 9th Fleet around 2737, having served in that role for nearly 27 years as of 2764. By that stage she had a very hands off approach to commanding her Fleet, allowing for Squadron's Vice Admirals operational free rein, except in limited circumstances. Her extensive experience did however ensure her subordinates where always happy to defer to her authority when necessary.[1]
New Vandenberg Uprising[edit]
Based near Canopus with her flagship the SLS Infanta at the time of the New Vandenberg Uprising, Nieminen had an active part in the operations undertaken against the Magistracy of Canopus. While she had hoped to retire after this being nearly 80 years old, upon hearing of Amaris' coup she instead volunteered to stay with Aleksandr Kerensky's forces.[1][2]
Amaris Civil War[edit]
Nieminen remained in charge of 9th Fleet throughout the Amaris Civil War, until her death in 2779 during Operation LIBERATION, when the SLS Infanta was destroyed above Terra.[2]
