Grissom Miller was a Field Marshal in the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth whose last known command was the Department of Mercenary Relations.

History[edit]

As a member of the First Crucis Lancers, Grissom would have had to be a native to one of the twenty-five worlds in the New Avalon Administrative District.[2]

War of 3039[edit]

A Major General at this point, Grissom commanded the First Crucis Lancers Armored Regiment. After assaulting and securing Capra in Wave One, the bulk of the RCT departed 15 July for four other worlds leaving Grissom in command of units remaining on Capra. On 24 July, the Third Proserpina Hussars and the Fifth Galedon Regulars landed on Capra. Despite being heavily outnumbered Grissom coordinated a defense, inflicting 50% losses before being forced to retreat off world 17 October. Before departing however he organized a daring raid to the Galedon's HQ, seizing three regimental banners (including the original pole Shiro Kurita presented to the unit in 2304) and the guidon.[3]

Postwar[edit]

Following the War of 3039 and the integration of the AFFS and LCAF into the AFFC, Grissom would have been promoted to Hauptmann General, there being no Major General equivalent rank in the AFFC. A decade later, now a Field Marshal, he would command the Department of Mercenary Relations.[1]

Retirement[edit]

Grissom retired to New Avalon at some point after 3049. In 3055, he penned a biography, Tales of a Field Marshal. The guidon on the Fifth Galedon Regulars was hung on his home office wall.[4]

Notes[edit]

  • There is some confusion as to Grissom's position in the War of 3039. Historical: War of 3039 lists him as commander of the First Crucis Lancers Armored Regiment while Combat Manual: Kurita[5] lists him as the First Crucis Lancer's commander. Despite Combat Manual: Kurita being the most recent publication, War of 3039 also gives overall command of the 1st Lancers to General Goran Yuu making that source the most likely one.
  • Further, there was another Grissom Miller in this era: the commander of Miller's Marauders. However since both were engaged in combat during July 3039 about 90 lightyears apart, they are almost certainly different people.
