Description

The Hawk Moth II Gunship is a light Class of Combat Vehicle type VTOL, which was originally produced in early years of the 32nd Century. A collaboration design produced by Michaelson Heavy Industries of Terra and Victory Conditions Industries of Mizar, the Hawk Moth II was created as high-speed VTOL. The craft was intended to be the spiritual successor to Michaelson's original Hawk Moth Gunship which produced in 31st Century. Unlike its predecessor, the Hawk Moth II plays the roles as a harasser and acts as conventional interdiction aircraft.

The craft would be sold to the major powers and mercenary forces of the Inner Sphere, being used support Combined Arms formations. The craft has been deployed in planetary raids where at times teamed up with other variants in undertaking missions screening friendly forces and pursuing flee combatants from the battlefield.

Weapons and Equipment

One of the few similarities the Hawk Moth II shares with its namesake is its speed. Powered by a 135-rated Michaelson Extra-Light Fusion Engine, the VTOL can move at excess of 183 kph. Using this high-rate speed with 4 tons of highly damage resistant Heavy Ferro-Fibrous armor, this combination aids the craft to close in on its objective.

The Hawk Moth II's weaponry is intended engage enemy units at intermediate and close ranges. Its main weapons are combination of pairs of Chin Turret mounted Diverse Optics Extended Range Medium Lasers and forward placed Harpoon 6-tubed Short-Range Missile Launchers.

Variants

• Hawk Moth II Gunship (MML)

  A simple upgrade from the standard model, this version introduced in 3114]. Dropping the replaces the Harpoon 6-tubed SRM Launchers, this variant features a pair of 5-tubed Multi-Missile Launcher with two tons of ammunition. BV(2.0)=851

• Hawk Moth II Gunship (Sniper)

  Not a popular model among Hawk Moth II pilots, this version drops all of the original's weapons for singular long-range weapon. In their place is a single Class 2 High Velocity Autocannon with 30 rounds of ammunition. To assist the VTOL to get into position snipe its targets, the Hawk Moth II is fitted with a VTOL Jet Booster pushing the craft brief at speeds of 220 kph. BV(2.0)=490

Notes

The Hawk Moth II was originally conceived of by Wizkids' MechWarrior Dark Age Collectible Miniatures game as a part of its Dominion expansion set. Visually different from its namesake, the figure simple named the "MHI Hawk Moth. It would be used as a general Combat Vehicle for number Inner Sphere and Clan faction in the CGC game. The VTOL would later be adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined in the tabletop game once the company advanced the franchise's timeline to 3145.
