The Hesperus Militia (DSPF) was the militia that defended the Hesperus system (both Hesperus II and Hesperus III).

History
The militia has been always a last tier of defense, but after the FedCom Civil War, it was forced to take on a greater role on the planetary defense. Part of the planetary militia was reassigned to protect the vulnerable Doering Electronics Melrose Valley facilities.
When the Word of Blake forces invaded Hesperus II, they were no match for the advanced Sixteenth Division and were shattered by them.[1]
By 3079, the Militia of Hesperus II was augmented by elements of the militia from Hesperus III. Based out of the Melrose Valley on South Whitman, the militia contingent from Hesperus III is deployed on a rotating basis. The inhospitable environment made it difficult to deploy infantry in anything other than battle armor or heavy exo-suits, and as result the militia forces serving in each rotation are invariably vehicle-based. These placed the militia close to the Doering Electronics plant.[2]

Given the capture of Hesperus II by the Blakists during the Jihad and the many close calls that the various industries have had throughout history, the local defending LCAF forces and the Defiance Self-Protection Force on Hesperus II are augmented by elements of the militia from Hesperus III. All infantry of the Hesperus II militia are counted as XTC troops at no extra cost. The unit was poorly supplied despite their prestigious posting, and when rolling for lance weight on the vehicle RAT, subtract –2 from the result.[1]
