The Jonah-class Submarine was a small research submersible vehicle designed for deep water explorations.

The design's origins can be traced back to years of the Ryan Cartel's heyday during the Age of War. The Cartel's branch division, Ryan Systemics, developed the Jonah's forerunner, the Javis to help in the Cartel's effort development in their water trade with other worlds. The Javis was intended to handle different planetary conditions in water environments. However, the Cartel looked down on the development of the Javis and their designers due to rise of water filtration technologies at the time.
