Described as a "new" pirate band when they raided Acamar on 8 January 3068, the Lafayette Legion were a pirate group formed by disgruntled House Liao expatriates from the planet Liberty (formerly Carver V). They had stolen a JumpShip and several DropShips and begun raiding border worlds in the Chaos March and the Federated Suns' Draconis March, with a focus on former Capellan Confederation worlds.[1][2]
On 8 January 3068 they raided the Contard mining facility on Acamar, where they faced Cumberland's Missiliers.[1][2] One of their DropShips was downed by the defenders, and the Legion had to limp back to orbit, leaving the Missilers several 'Mechs to salvage.[2]
