History

Described as a "new" pirate band when they raided Acamar on 8 January 3068, the Lafayette Legion were a pirate group formed by disgruntled House Liao expatriates from the planet Liberty (formerly Carver V). They had stolen a JumpShip and several DropShips and begun raiding border worlds in the Chaos March and the Federated Suns' Draconis March, with a focus on former Capellan Confederation worlds.[1][2]

Elements of the Third Dismal Disinherited engaged and defeated them on Liberty at the end of December 3067. The pirates main thrust was outside the DropPort, where several pirates and attendant support vehicles attempted to infiltrate and steal two merchant DropShips being prepared for liftoff while they also executed a diversionary raid that was repulsed near an abandoned Lyran Alliance military installation that had become the mercenaries' base with the permission of the Liberty government.[3]

On 8 January 3068 they raided the Contard mining facility on Acamar, where they faced Cumberland's Missiliers.[1][2] One of their DropShips was downed by the defenders, and the Legion had to limp back to orbit, leaving the Missiliers several 'Mechs to salvage.[2]
