Description
The Martin Light Scout VTOL was produced briefly by Cal-Boeing of Dorwinion on world of Belladonna. The vehicle was first conceived originally as combat-orient version of the company's Ferret VTOL in 2967. However, the Wild Weasel was too fragile for customers and design was discontinued. Cal-Boeing attempted to introduce less daring design in form of the Martin in 3021. Billing the Marten in the role of a light transport VTOL and recon unit. Performance wise, the craft was effective, however shadow of Cal-Boeing early Wild Weasel and the Marten's high cost caused the sales to faultier.[1]
Deployment History
Sales of the Marten had been limited, with initially having being able sell 7 companies of the vehicles to AFFS' Ceti Hussars. The combined-arms regiments have the Martens taken over roll of scouting from its Light BattleMechs. The Lyran Commonwealth's 22nd Skye Rangers purchased only a single company of the vehicles. However, some wealthy worlds' planetary militias have taken interested in the Marten, purchased the vehicle for their use.[2]
Armaments & Capacities
The Marten is armed with a single front mounted Federated Streak SRM-2 Launcher with 1 ton of ammunition. It is equipped with a 1 ton infantry bay and a half ton cargo bay.
It is protected by 1.5 tons of standard armor.
Variants
- Troop - This variant removes the missile launcher for a larger infantry bay. BV (1.0) = 17
Notes
The Martin first appeared in "Lost Design" section of the TRO:3026 Revised. The vehicle has not been published in any further publication as of this writing.
